How It Works

From your first call to settlement day, here's exactly what to expect when you work with StepUp Wealth.

1. Discovery Call (30 minutes)

We start with a no-obligation 30-minute video call to understand your goals, timeline, and financial situation. We'll discuss what you're trying to achieve, whether that's buying your first home, refinancing, or building a portfolio.

By the end of this call, you'll have a clear picture of your borrowing capacity and the next steps. There's no pressure and no commitment required.

Tip: Have a rough idea of your income, current debts, and savings ready. This helps us give you accurate numbers on the first call.

2.Document Collection and Assessment

We'll send you a secure digital checklist of the documents we need. Most clients complete this in under an hour. We use secure document sharing so you never need to email sensitive documents.

Once we have your documents, we assess your borrowing capacity and run your scenario through our lender comparison tool to identify the best options from our panel of 40+ lenders.

Tip: The faster you return documents, the faster we can get you pre-approved. Having your last two payslips and tax returns ready speeds things up significantly.

3.Loan Recommendation and Comparison

We present you with a shortlist of recommended loans with a clear comparison of rates, fees, features, and total cost of ownership over the life of the loan. We explain the trade-offs in plain English so you can make an informed decision.

We are required by law to act in your best interests (Best Interests Duty) and to recommend the loan that is most suitable for your circumstances, not the one that pays us the highest commission.

Note: We disclose our commission from each lender upfront so you can see exactly how we're paid and confirm there's no conflict of interest.

4.Application Submission

Once you've chosen your preferred loan, we prepare and submit your application. We manage all communication with the lender, respond to any queries, and keep you updated throughout the process.

Most conditional pre-approvals come back within 48 hours. We'll notify you as soon as we hear back and explain exactly what the pre-approval means for your property search.

5.Property Search and Formal Approval

With pre-approval in hand, you can search for property with confidence. When you find a property and have a signed contract, we submit for formal (unconditional) approval. This typically takes 3 to 5 business days.

We liaise with the lender's valuer and manage any additional requirements to keep the process moving.

Tip: Pre-approvals are typically valid for 90 days. If your property search takes longer, we can apply for a renewal.

6.Loan Documents and Signing

Once formally approved, the lender issues loan documents. We review these with you to ensure everything is correct before you sign. Documents can be signed electronically in most cases.

7.Settlement

We coordinate with your solicitor or conveyancer and the lender to ensure settlement goes smoothly. We'll confirm the settlement date and make sure all parties are aligned.

After settlement, we're still here. We conduct annual loan reviews to ensure your rate remains competitive and your loan structure continues to suit your evolving goals.

After settlement: We'll check in with you annually to review your rate and ensure you're still on the best deal available.
